FUN-tastic Leaders !

Hi guys !

So, another busy week has passed and up till now the Leaders are making good progress in carrying out their respective jobs for the MAJOR event that’s coming up pretty soon. J

There has been a meeting held on Thursday like every other week before. Not only did we discuss about the committee groups respective tasks, we also had lots of fun doing

To all the new members who signed up on the recruitment drive, there will be a General Meeting on Thursday, 11/08/2011, from 4-5 pm. There will be ice-breaking sessions and fun games ! For those who are interested in joining but did not sign up on that day, you can just turn up for the meeting and sign up on the spot.

As mentioned in the earlier post, there will be an audition to find an emcee for our upcoming exciting event. This audition will be held on Wednesday, 10^th of July. This is a great opportunity for all those aspiring emcees out there ! And there’s cash reward too. So, come grab this opportunity !

Recruitment Drive

WOW!! How time flies! it's Friday again and the recruitment drive all of us had been anticipating for was over. the drive was held today at the college car park, from 12 to 2.30.

Tents were set up and each club has a booth of their own. TLC got the second booth from the front and the crowd was CUH-RA-ZY. People flooded the whole car park and members at the booth were explaining non-stop to the newbies about the club, trying to persuade them into the club. Flyers were thrown around followed by questions which all leaders try their best to answer. The hooroosh ended in half an hour and leaders finally got to get some rest and to bring the posters around, spreading the news of the upcoming MAJOR event.
Every registered new member gets a lollipop or an Apollo wafer from the leaders as leaders know all people loves sweet things, especially when it's FREE!!

Hey ! :D

First of all, if you’re reading this, I would like to thank you for spending little of your time checking out our blog ! (do tell your friends,ok ? ) ;)

Ok, moving on to what’s going on in Leaders’ Club. For the past few weeks, there have been about 5 meetings held . These are mainly to discuss about the upcoming MAJOR event that the committee and members are planning.

So, if you are a member of the club but haven’t been attending the meetings ( where were you ?? ), you will be hearing about it pretty soon ! Non-members – don’t worry, you can take part in the event too ! Oh, and to all members, please attend the meeting because you have the opportunity of helping out in the Event, Marketing, and Publicity group. This can actually help you boost you leadership skills !

FYI, the Recruitment Drive is coming soon, people ! This is an opportunity for the club to promote itself to the students, particularly the June intake students. The details of the event are as follows :

Date : 29^th July 2011

Time : 12 pm – 3 pm

Venue : TCSJ Main Campus, Car Park Area.

The friendly committee of the Leaders’ Club and some dedicated members are going to be at the booth to promote the club. Also, don’t miss the on-stage promotion by representatives from the club !

TLC'S BACK!!!

We're finally back!:D

Having been, well, 'dead', for a year, the Leader's club has decided to refresh the blog and keep you guys out there updated with our club's activity. Our very first event this year (when i get to meet Leaders' club for the first time) is the recruitment drive on the 21st of April. Leaders (members of Leaders' club) are busy promoting the club and having to compete with at least 20 other clubs, trust me, it's not easy at all. It was a huge success and the club managed to recruit quite a large number of new members.

The next activity we had would be the General Meeting. Just a week after the recruitment drive, the new members get to meet the existing members, or senior members, and the Board of Directors all at once for the first time. They were introduced to us while we, new members were introduced to them. Ice-breaking games, chocolates, ahh.. I wish the following General Meeting would be the same, no, cross that, more chocolates! XD

A few meetings had been conducted after the General Meeting. Activity plans for the year were discussed and the topic of refreshment of this blog was brought up by our dear president, Amy, herself.

JULY: Leaders are busy preparing for our MAJOR event coming September. Meetings were held every Thursday where members get together and crack their heads thinking of ways to make the event a successful one. Busy, fun, busy, fun.. Leaders always have fun amidst being busy for serious work. :)

BUT, WHAT EVENT? You'd ask, well, keep checking our blog to find out!!

Mini-Bazaar Event!!

Yep!! Our great Mini-Bazaar event is now history and what is left to do is to tell the world about it. Without needing to say, all clubs (Leaders' Club, Scra-Chess Club and Chinese Society) involved in this Mini-Bazaar Event made profit!! Though it is sad to say that not many great pictures were taken especially the first day - the busy day, due to technical difficulties.

It all started from 20th of April 2010. All teams were enthusiastic about setting up our respective stall.

We faced some difficulties such lack of extension cords and the tents weren't as planned. Nevertheless, problem was solved and the event started smoothly at 10am!! And so... sales began!! Chinese Society decided to go class by class at the end so only Scra-Chess Club and Leaders' Club set up stalls.

Everyone involved would have to agree that lecturers supported us alot.

On top of that, Scra-Chess Club set up a booth for various games. However, once again, due to technical difficulties, we did not manage to take any photographs

Ok... so that's it. Sorry as there were not much photos to share. The event ended at 5.00pm 22nd of April 2010 when Scra-Chess Club closed their stall at 5.00pm. Rest of the Leaders' Club members were in MPH dealing with our March ECA Day. Hence we closed early that day.

And... alas. Two president, Aik Zuan (leaders' Club) and Chun Hong (Scra-Chess Club) taking a photo together. And that signifies the end of our three day long event.

Overall, everything went well. In the process, we all learn how to deal with people, how to organize things properly, what are the necessity steps to take and what must be avoided. Communication is a very important part in dealing with these kind of situation. We also learn that we could also enjoy ourselves during events, and we could really learn from Scra-Chess Club regarding that aspect as they really shine in enjoying themselves.

March ECA Recruitment Day

On the 22nd of April 2010 we have our March ECA Recruitment Day.

This year's March ECA recruitment day was a bit different. We did it in MPH instead of the open air car parking place. Of course, as usual it is smaller as compared to the Jan ECA Recruitment Day. Not much clubs participated in it, but we Leaders' Club!! To prove our activeness and "supportiveness" towards whatever the ECA committee organize, we have decided to participate in this!!

So our theme of our board deco this time is "Leaders of the World". Zuhair is the Organizing Chairperson for this event.

The Basic Idea was to use various posters of great leaders of the past to attract the new intakes to join, using past stories of these great leaders as an inspiration for the people to join.

The Backdrop is as well decorated nicely with an EXCLUSIVE banner drawn by the BODs of the club themselves. Looks pretty good huh? Past event photos are also placed on the board just so that we could explain to the new people about that our club actually does.

So there you go, our board. Not too fancy, but pretty well done. Consider the fact that we did this while busy planning the Mini-Bazaar Event.

In general, recruitment wasn't that bad with the help of our members.

Now lets take a look what's around MPH.

First up we have Anime Society, they did a pretty amazing job if you ask me. In fact, they are doing real well this year.

Mini-Bazaar Event

In order to celebrate the March-Intake students as part of the big family in Taylor's University College, and to allow them to get to know what our club is about, Leaders' Club will be organizing a Mini-Bazaar Event.

That's not all!! In order to make this event something BIG, we have invited 2 other clubs, namely ScraChess Club and Chinese Society to collaborate with us in this "grand" event.

Details of the Event:
Date: 20th till 22 Apr 2010
Time: 11am-1pm, 3pm-5pm
Venue: The soul call "under the tree", aka place where students sit

In general, there will be sales of various items and games. Some example of foods are Logan Jelly, Lemon Jelly Ice, Sandwiches and Pizzas. Other merchandise may include earrings and accessories, potpourris and various accessories. For those that are interested in games, ScraChess Club will be carrying out various mini games with fabulous prizes. Chinese Society would also be doing a song dedication!!

So spread the news and come to our wonderful sales event!! we guarantee that you won't have enough money to spend. See you there!!

Our First AGM (2 Feb 2010)

On the 2nd of February 2010, Leaders' Club 2010 had our very first meeting.

Date: 2 Feb 2010
Time: 3.30 till 4.30pm
Venue: LT4 (although initially we requested for LT3)

Of course, it started out with a speech given by the Mr. President, Low Aik Zuan,

And then there we question and answer sessions:

Finally, all members were divided into 6 groups. What are the groups for?
It's for an event that we will soon be doing. We will talk about that later.

Meeting ended at about 4.30pm. And that is how the present members of Leaders' Club met with the EXCO's of 2010. This signifies the beginning of this new year for the club and with all this members, I'm sure Leaders' Club would have a fantastic year in 2010.

On September 11th 2009, Leaders' Club of Taylor's University College organized our very first Leadership Talk with the aim of promoting leadership skills. The event is pretty straightforward; our motive is to invite Malaysian leaders to spare a few minutes of their hectic life and inspire us with their leadership stories and past experiences.

What's more than to invite the present chairman of Malaysian Industrial Development Authority(MIDA) who was also formerly the director-general of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU). It was indeed an honor to have YAB Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob to be the man of the day.

A brief background information of our speaker; Tan Sri Sulaiman was the secretariat for the National Economic Action Council (NEAC), which is a government consultative body that was set up at the height of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Its purpose is to draft and coordinate measures to counter the severe economic problems faced by Malaysia and other Asian countries.

The event kick started at 11am and ended at 12pm. Everything was executed as planned and it was a breeze. The audience was very supportive and participative. A big thumbs up for their passion and interest!

Lastly, we would like to bid our sincere thanks and gratitude to the following for gracing this event.

Charity Day/ Flea Market 2009

On 31st July 2009, Leaders' Club participated in the Charity Day aka Flea Market which was jointly organised by the Taylor's University College Student Council and ECA in support of World Vision Malaysia. The booths mostly comprised of outside vendors selling beautiful accessories, clothes, decorative ornaments and food; which became a shopping heaven for you got it, the ladies!

There were only a few clubs who took part that day and Leaders' Club was among the few clubs who had a game stall. Our drink Optimus Prime which was The Drink Of the Day caught the attention of many thirsty shoppers. Unfortunately, our game "Guess the Number?" did not meet our expectations as we faced a huge amount of competition with the vendors. At this setback, we conclude that spending a few dollars on an item in return would be more profitable than spending a few dollars on a game, right?

All in all, the experience was indeed beneficial as it cultivates the spirit of teamwork and great perseverance among members. To all members who volunteered that day; THANK YOU! Not forgetting those who drop by and supported our stall! Cheers.

Hey guys!

For those of you who are completely clueless on what we will be doing this Friday, here is a brief explanation on what we have discussed in the past two meetings. We are in shortage of man power and hope you would be able to lend a helping hand. Leaders' club will be setting up a booth opposite The Web at the car park. The theme of our booth is

Famous Leaders Around the World.

So, what will we be doing?

1) Guess the number...This is a game where our potential customers guess the number of sweets in a big jar. We will be charging them RM2 for 3 guesses. The most accurate answer in the order of their guesses determines the grand prize winner. The grand prize is a HAMPER. Here is how the process goes. There will be two coupons involved.

Coupon B upon collecting the prize. There will only be one winner and one grand prize, no consolation prizes.

2)Drink Of A Day Since our booth theme is famous leaders around the world, we've decided to name our drinks by the name of famous leaders. We had some drink-tasting session in the past two meetings and finally came to a unanimous decision on what we should sell.

a) Optimus Prime (Suggested by our teacher advisor, since Optimus Prime is indeed a great leader in the world of Transformers) .This drink is a mixture of Ribena + 7 up lemon + sour plum. Sweet and sour with slight fizz.

b) We haven't decided on the second drink yet. It depends on the amount of water tank available. If any of you have extra water tanks at home and won't mind lending it, do inform us!Price of the drinks is not confirmed. May reach up to RM 1.50 or RM 1.00 depending on the size of the cups.

Dear Leaders!

We will be having a meeting this Friday to discuss the upcoming recruitment drive (ECA Day) a.k.a. flea market on 31st July. The flea market is jointly organised by the TUC Student Council and the ECA Centre, and is aimed at helping the World Vision Foundation.

Leaders' Club will be setting up a booth in support of this charity foundation and also to recruit new members of the June/July intake. We require manpower to help out during the event. Members who are interested to be in the committee for the event, please attend the meeting which will be held on Friday, 24th July at 3pm in the ECA discussion room as we will be conducting a briefing session/discussion about the event.

AIESEC Workshop

Guys, I know that u were informed about a workshop (unspecify though) will be conducted on the 20th Feb 2009... Unfortunately it has been postponed due to date problems with the organizers...

Okay before i tell u any further; I'll say something about the workshop... The workshop is actually a collaboration with AIESEC org, its about environmental and HIV awareness.... Boriiiiing.... If that what is u all think, u get it so wrong coz this workshop is been conducted by a bunch of professionals and they majored in the art of being cool, okay the workshop gonna be fun. I hope u guys get the idea.

Actually the main reason I'm keen of asking u guys to go is actually coz at the later part of this workshop there will be a briefing session on a leadership exchange programme. If lucky a bunch of leader's club members could be sent to places like Norway, Poland, China and Japan during your Dec break. It's a good experience and also will boost your ECA credentials (as I said on recognition and stuff).

I seriously need you guys to attend but as the organizers have date problems so we have to select another date, I have few dates for consideration, dates are all on Feb because I dont want to carry it forward to March, unless we have no other option.

As you all know, the BBQ party was held as planned on the 29th of February 2009 despite lack of time in planning. Thankfully, it didn't rain that evening despite threats such that it has been raining every evening before that!

Personally, I had a blast! And I'm quite sure most of the people had too ...

A Slight Review

As the meeting held today was made quite early, most of you could not attend the meeting. So here's an update on what went on during the meeting just so that you guys can keep up to date.

Hiu Jian started off the meeting seeking suggestions from members for events in March. Lack of suggestions brought about the formation of 2 new committees for 2 new programs:

The Book Sale Carnival:

This program is organised to help the seniors sell their old books, past year papers or notes, but of course with a commission to the club. This helps seniors sell their books and in return helps generate funds for other club activities. Chuah En Quan has volunteered to be the leader of this event and will set up his committee to organise this event.

Leader's Club T-shirt:

Hiu Jian suggested that we make a t-shirt for the members of our club which carries the club logo. Lai Toh Wai volunteered to be in charge of this matter and will oversee all matters regarding this with Hiu Jian.

The meeting then continued with a discussion regarding the BBQ Party. The party will be held on the 27th of February 2009 (next Friday) at the barbeque pit right outside the Web in the main campus from 5 to 8 p.m. It is expected to be a relatively small ice-breaking event for members of our club, their friends and classmates or any other random Taylorian. To help organise this party, a few small subcommittees have been formed to handle various sectors of the event:

You guys were previously informed about a workshop which will be conducted on the 20th Feb 2009..
Unfortunately it has been postponed due to some technical problems.

The workshop is a collaboration with AIESEC org regarding the environmental and HIV awareness....
Wait, before you go all.. B-O-R-I-N-G on me..Hear me out first!
This workshop is being conducted by professionals majoring in the art of being C-O-O-L, and not just some students from some college or a doctor / professor. So, the workshop will definitely be full of very interesting and beneficial activities.

Okay, I'll cut the chase. The main reason I'm asking u guys to go is actually cuz at the later part of this workshop there will be a briefing session on a leadership exchange programme, (something like a student exchange programme). Hopefully we're lucky enough to have members provided with the opportunity to be sent overseas to.... eg. Norway, Poland, China and Japan during your Dec break. It'll definitely be a priceless experience and will boost your ECA credentials (such as recognition and all).

Once again, I urge all members to attend this workshop. Since the organizers have some problems with the previously specified date (20th Feb), we'll just have to select another date, I have few dates for consideration, dates are all on Feb because I do not want to carry it forward to March, unless we have no other option.

AGM - A Brief Report

Our AGM was held last Friday, 6th February 2009 at 1530 hours. Kavindiran, who was the emcee for the meeting started off the meeting with a short video introducing the club to the new members. We then moved on to a brief history of the club and an introduction of the outgoing board of committee members.

Gong Xi Fa Chai!!

Leader's Club would like to wish Happy Chinese New Year to all our members who celebrate Chinese New Year. Hope you all have a great reunion dinner and may you receive many ang pows this year!

On a more serious note, ECA day was held last Thursday and from what I hear the response for our club was good. We managed to get 96 new members and we welcome you all to the club! Hope to see all our new members regularly at our meetings. The club would also like to thank all our members who stayed back to man the booth on ECA day. Good job!

Hello everyone! First of all, I know its a bit late but Happy New Year! Hope 2008 was a good year for you and may 2009 be even better!

Leader's Club would also like to welcome all the new students who joined Taylor's University College this year, whether it be A-levels, TBS or foundation programs. We hope you heed your parents advice to study hard but do not forget to take part in extra curricular activities as well. Leadership skills/qualities is fast becoming one of the main requirements to obtain a good scholarship these days. What I noticed while I was scholarships hunting was that almost all of them wanted not only good grades but also for the candidate to posses strong leadership qualities. The main aim of this club is to instill leadership quialities in students and so, where else better to develop these qualities than right here at Leader's Club?!

Haslina and her team have decided to drop the idea of organizing a trip and instead, plan on organizing a pool tournament. It turns out that the ECA is planning one too, so she's now collaborating with ECA and having a joint event. They are seriously short of manpower and so she would like to call on our members to come help her make this event a success.

We know its exam time, and the Jan batch are surely up to their necks like we are, so hopefully response from the July intake will be good!

Club meeting (10/10/08) recap

Hello fellow members!

Here is the recap on what went on in the previous meeting, which was the last for the 2007/2008 committee.

The president announced that the club is looking for potential replacements for the club's committee. A few candidates were identified, namely Haslina Hanif, Chua Hiu Jian and Kavindira Amarendiran. It was then decided to hold a competition to decide the future president. Each candidate will be given a task and a team, and the winning candidate will be elected as the next president. The other posts in the committee will be filled in by club members who help the presidential candidates in their tasks and show the current committee their dedication and worth to the club.

As of now, Hiu Jian has accepted the task of planning the club's next AGM which will happen somewhere in January next year, and Haslina is doing a field trip. Kavindira has yet to decide on their tasks but there have been talks of planning a trip and a leadership talk. All members are encouraged to help the presidential candidates out.

The unofficial prom

Dear members,

The results of our survey for the unofficial prom are in. Unfortunately, as we feared, the response is not good. Only about 40 people indicated an interest in participating. So, the committee has decided not to continue with it. The turnout will be too poor and it may end up just too lame.. We would like to thank all the members who put in their effort and we are sorry that it didn't work out.

Unfortunately, the current committee is very pressed for time and will not be able to start anything new as we are preparing for our final exams. We know there are some of you out there who are very keen and interested in doing something therefore if you could get in touch with us with your ideas, maybe we could help you out since we may not be able to do it ourselves. Any suggestions? You come up with the plans, we'll help you make it happen.

We hope the new members will take this opportunity to show us what you are capable of. As you all know, almost the entire committee is leaving at the end of this year and we are looking for capable and enthusiastic people to replace us. This is your opportunity. Take the challenge!

Meeting Updates

The meeting held on Friday went as schedule, although the turnout was quite poor. However, this was expected given the limited notice combined with the odd timing.

The main issue discussed was regarding the School's Out Party/prom. It was decided that the next step that had to be taken before we could proceed with it was to take a general survey of how many people would be willing to attend the event. If only a few are interested, there is no way we will be able to cover the costs of organising the event. Thus the promotions department (lead by Kavindira) was asked to conduct a survey. The results of which will be known to us by Thursday. Hopefully, it will come back with the results that we are hoping for..

In the meantime, the sponsorship department has been asked to start looking for possible sponsors for the event. At the moment, only Haslina & Kevin (our newest member) are at it. It would be greatly appreciated if those members who joined the sponsorship department at the previous meeting could please get in contact with Bazliah and help them out. Also, if anyone has ideas about possible sponsors, please leave your suggestion on the CBOX on the right and I will pass it on to Baz.

We were not able to discuss the progress of the club t-shirt as the people in charge of it (Hiu Jian & Nur Hanina) couldn't attend the meeting. However, the club logo has been finalized. You can check it out here: Logo

Lastly, ECA has asked if anyone would like to volunteer as student helpers for the Fun Party next year. The purpose of the event is to serve as an orientation party for the January 2009 intake students. You will be asked to help plan/run fun activities/games on that day. For example, there was a mini treasure hunt last time a baloon tower. The event will be held either in late January or early February, and will be from 4pm - 8pm. It probably will be on a Friday, but I can't confirm that. (However, both the 2 previous ones that I volunteered in were held on a Friday) Students will be paid RM5 an hour, and dinner or light snacks may be served. Those who are interested in helping out please contact Ms. Shirly at the ECA office. At the moment, only Kavin has agreed to help out, and ECA needs another 4.

School's Out Party

Dear Members,

We realised that we didn't explain the whole Schools Out party in detail to the members who didn't attend the last meeting, so here goes:

The Schools Out Party is basically a kind of a end-of-school farewell party. The idea started out as a prom for the July 2007 A-levels students (who don't get a prom), but then it was decided to open the party to students from other programs as well. We are trying to arrange to have it at a hotel, and are currently in discussions with a few.

At our last meeting, we created 3 departments: Research, Sponsorship, and Promotions, and assigned the members who were present to them, to assist us in planning and managing the event. We hope that those members who were unable to attend the last meeting and are interested in helping us with the event would please get in touch with us. As of now, the Research department already has a lot of members helping out, but the other 2 departments are quite short fo man-power. We really hope the new members will take this opportunity to work with us and let us get to know you better as most of the committee will be leaving this year and we are looking for the next committee.

Trials!

Meeting Updates

For those of you that weren't able to attend the meeting or had to leave early, here are the latest developments.

1. The leadership talk was postponed due to the unavailability of the speaker. He would only be available at a later date. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to manage it then because by then I would have finished my A-levels. Luckly, one of our new members, Tommy, agreed to take over the event from me. So all my effort in writing the proposal & getting ECA to approve it is not wasted!

2. The club t-shirt design was agreed upon and given to Nina & Hiu Jian to ask for price quotations. I will upload the designs soon. The club logo was also finalized. (I'll upload that soon too. Bear with me! Results are out tomorrow! T_T)

The meeting was quite short but it was quite nice to see so many new faces turn up. Hope they keep coming for the next ones..

Charity Carnival Roundup

The Taylor's Charity Carnival jointly organized by "the office", Leo Club and 22 other clubs/socities was held at the main campus yesterday, and we were one of the participating clubs. We had not one but two stalls at the carnival: Futsal and Table Tennis Tripler. Nandha was in charge of futsal while I was in charge of Table Tennis.

Overall, I think our stalls were alright. I only took resposibility for the table-tennis booth last friday, when table-tennis club pulled out. Yet we managed to make around RM70. I know that its not much compared to what the other booths were making, but we only had so little time to prepare and we had like zero cost. Plus we could only charge our customers 1 coupon whereas the other could charge more. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jackson Teoh and Alvin Ching Jin Wei for helping out with the booth. If not for them the whole thing couldn't have been done. They selflessly gave their help (even though they're not members of our club) and didn't ask for anything in return. I was very impressed with their attitude and quite disappointed with the rest of our club members. With the exception of Hiu Jian and Cosilla (and Wei Guang and Michelle who helped out with the coupon sales the previous day), no one else came to help out on that day. I know the president said it was "voluntary", but this was an excellant opportunity to learn management stuff and do something for charity at the same time. Alas, all our members went MIA.. (including some committee members)

Since I'm on the subject of MIA, this brings me to my next gripe. Leo club was... sorry, I'm at a loss for words. The impression I was given was that they were supposed to be in charge and we were just supposed to be "helping out" in their sports department. Instead, it turned out the other way. As far as my booth was concerned, the only time Leo came around was to tell me not to accept coupons without stamps on them. Well done guys. I thought of all the clubs at Taylor's at least Leo would be "accountable". Unfortunately, I was wrong. I had my reservations at the begining and had informed Nandha about it. I warned him that we might end up doing all the work for them as I could gather from Nandha's feedback from the meetings that Leo hadn't planned everything properly. How right I was. Come on, only 3 games stalls for the entire carnival? And 2 of them were from us! Worse still, at the end, Nandha, Kavin and I had to carry back all the tables, even from other stalls!! We were already quite upset when other stalls were stealing the tables that we were bringing down from B-floor, but having to put them back after having them stolen from us was infuriating! We ended up leaving the college only at around 5pm, and we were exhausted. And we live in Klang mind you, and rely on public transport.

Good news everyone! ECA has accepted our proposal to invite Mr. Ahmad Izham Omar, CEO of 8tv, to give a talk on leadership. They also agreed to sponsor the cost of promotion so we don't have to fork out our limted club resources. Now, all we have to do is contact him and pray he agrees! I already called 8tv this morning, and they told me to send an email, which I am going to do shortly.

Hello Everyone!

Yesteday was ECA recruitment day, and the response to our club was around what we expected. We would like to welcome all our new members to the club and remind them to please keep checking your email or this blog for details about the next meeting, which should be around sometime next week.

As for the meeting that was held last monday, (287/07/08), here are the updates:

1) Hiu Jian had some info regarding the price of making the club t-shirts. We have to order a minimum of 50pcs, and it will cost around RM20 - 25 per shirt. It seems to be quite a high price, considering that we are limited to one color only. The cost of printing patterns on them is included though. However, a final decision has not been made yet.

2) Scrachess Club request for manpower help for their B.A.D event was also raised. Unfortunately, only Nandha, Aaron and myself seem to able to help them. The event is from 10a.m - 5p.m. (i think, I'm sure it starts at 10 though) and will be held in the MPH.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay in updating the blog, but I didn't have the time yesterday. Anyways, here are the developments from the meeting on 11.07.2008.

Our ICPU rep, Raga, has left the club and college in order to pursue another course elsewhere. We would like to thank him for all his contributions and wish him all the best in his future endevours. We will certainly miss him. As a result of Raga's departure, the ICPU rep post is now open. Any ICPU members interested?

Another issue that was discussed was the club logo. After almost 2 years in existance, the club still doesn't have a proper logo! (The one currently in use is NOT COUNTED!!) A promising design was presented by our president and most of us agreed with it. A few changes were suggested and are currently being made.

The idea of a club T-Shirt was also raised. Our new member Hu Jian has some contacts and is supposed to get back to us with some info on pricing. We haven't decided on a design yet so anyone with some hidden talent in fashion design how about dropping us a few suggestions? Designs can submitted via email. Also, if anyone has further information on the cost of producing these T-shirts please contact us and let us know.

As for our events, the event which seems most likely to happen is the talk. The prom and leadership camp plans are currently at 50-50 due to circumstances beyond our control. However, we have not completely given up hope on these ideas and are looking for possible solutions. The major problem we're facing now seems to be finding a suitable date.

Also, the "charity week" event which we were helping Leo club with has undergone some changes. The organising committee has been merged with Taylor's Charity Committee. Nevertheless, we are still part of the sports/games department. Any members who wish to help out in managing the booths please get in touch with us. The event itself is no longer a week long event. The carnival day is on the 6th of August.

We're back!

Hello there! Gosh, It's been a looong while since I last posted, and I see our president has beaten me to being the 1st to post after our holidays. (Sigh) I was having problems signing in or getting into blogger with IE. Only managed to get in using Firefox today.. Anyone else having this problem? (Btw, me using Taylor's library PC's)

Anyways, on to our events! Leader's Club (with the help of some volunteers) are organizing the "Ice-Breaking" session for the new July 2008 A-levels intake tomorrow. Its at the MPH and the session is supposed to start around 2.

Also, Leader's club is helping out Leo Club with its charity event, and if any of you members are interested in helping out please contact Po Ni or Nandha. Last I heard we're manning a "Human-foosball" event or something like that in the MPH on that day. More updates on this tomorrow.

On to our next club meeting. We originally intended to have it this friday, but that got postponed because we ended up organizing the IBS. We then postponed it to next Monday, but that was also postponed because we realized that the UCAS briefing is on that day. (Its at LT2 btw, 3-4pm). So then we moved it to Tuesday, but then ECA informed us that our president has to attend an ECA meeting... Gosh, we must have broken some record or something for consecutive meeting postponements! So, the meeting is now scheduled for Friday, the 11th of July. Venue and time will be confirmed later. Stay tuned to the blog!

I'd also like to thank all the members who replied my emails, and hope to see more of you being active. And again a general reminder, if you haven't been getting any emails from the club for a while, please check your spam/thrash/junk folders and see if the emails are there. I don't know why some email providers are classifying our emails as "spam/junk/thrash". So, if our mails are there, please mark the club address as "not spam" or something like that, then they'll stop going there.

Hello everyone! It's been a while that the clubs been.. umm... sleeping... but its time to wake up, shake off all the cobwebs and get active again.

First up, i'm happy to say that Leader's Club is joining Leo and many other clubs in the 'Joint Charity Campaign' (we're calling it that until we get the official name) to raise funds to help out the victims of the recent disasters in China and Myanmar.

The first meeting to get the ball rolling was this morning and the next one is scheduled for next wednesday. From the general outline we've got so far, we'll be having a week-long 'warm-up' events from the 21st of july which culminates in a 'Carnival Day' on the 25th of July. Many events are being planned so members who are interested in helping out please get in touch with the committee.

Also, don't forget that our next meeting is planned for the 4th of july, probably 1pm or 2pm. we'll be discussing our 'main event' for the club and a few other things that need attention. Exact details will be up later.

Thank goodness the rain stayed away and we were spared from having to BBQ in the sheltered car park, lol. There were a few hiccups and snags here and there, exposing our weaknesses but it's all good. Hi folks! I apologise for not updating the blog for a while. Trials was torture, thank god its over!

Anyways, since we couldn't do the ASTRO trip and the chocolate idea didn't work out (despite Raga's valiant efforts), the club has decided to host a BBQ party instead! The tentative date is for Wednesday, the 30th of April (subject to ECA approval). All members are invited to attend. There's an entry fee of RM12 to cover buying the food and stuff. Sorry I haven't updated the blog for a while. Anyway, here's the latest breaking news.

1) The Astro plan got cancelled because the only day they are open for visitation is on Tuesdays. Bummer.

2) The chocolate sales on Mother's day got scrapped because our supplier wouldn't put customised personal messages on the chocolates for anything less than RM25 (I think). So it was deemed too expensive by our president.

3) We're now thinking of a barbeque party.

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd better post something before people start to wonder what's happening with the club. I apologize for taking so long to do so, things have been rather hectic.

First up, I would like take this opportunity to thank Steven and the previous committee for believing in me enough to leave the club in my hands. It's an honour. I'm really sad to see you guys go. I'm sure all of us are. Elvin, Loga, as crazy as 60 Seconds to Fame was, it was great fun going crazy with you guys. We're gonna miss you. We're gonna miss all of you!

Thank you too, Mr. Lai and Ms. Jackie, for agreeing to be our teacher advisors. We're all newbies so we're gonna need the support. =)

Next, I would like to welcome all the new members. You've joined a great club. A club with a lot of ambition. We have lot of learning ahead of us and I hope we can all work together and keep this club alive and kicking. Also, congrats to the new committee! I think all of you deserve it and I look forward to serving with you guys.

Before I end my first post, I would like to make a request to each one of you; like Elvin (for those of you who've had the pleasure of meeting him), I like to keep things relatively informal. It makes things a heck of a lot easier. So if you have anything to say or ask, please do so without worrying about rank and formalities. We're all in this together and we're all friends, so fire away.

Message from the Immediate Past President

Dear Leaders,

I would like to thank all old and new members who have attended our 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM). I hope all of you had a wonderful time during the AGM.I am so glad to have met lots of wonderful new members with great talents. That's what we want. We want to "brush" your talent to the maximum.

Besides that, I would like to congratulate the new Board of Directors(BOD) for 2008/2009. I hope the entire new BOD will cooperate and achieves our club's vision and mission. We, the past committee members would like to see this club grow bigger and more stable. We also hope to see more big activities coming up. If possible, make it the biggest in Taylor's history. I believe that the new BOD can do that and I have confidence in all of you that you can do it proficiently. I wouls also like to thank our club advisors, Mr Lai and Ms. Jackie who have attended our AGM.

Those who are not selected for CAL/SAM/ICPU/TBS reps,please do not get dissapointed or feel upset. You still will be able to contribute to the club. If you have any suggestions or opinions, you are always welcome to present them to us, NO ONE WILL BE SILENCED IN OUR CLUB, THAT IS THE LAW FOR US. If you think you have some great ideas, speak it out during the meeting and your idea might be acceptable to the club and may become the next big hit. You might be the the next organizing chairman/chairwoman.

For all my committee members of year 2006-2007, I would like to say a big "THANK YOU". Without support from all of you, we will not be what we are today. Members who joined the club since I was the president, thank you too, it is because of you that our club keeps going on today stronger than when we started. Below are my opinions about my committee:

Loga : A very supportive, helpful, relentless, hardworking and dedicated vice president. He helped me so much and thus reduced my burden. Loga and I are almost like brothers now. =)
Vee Keat : "work hard,play hard" is the best word to describe him. When he does his job, he is a serious guy. He will complete his job on time. But, he also makes lots of fun during our outing and during our meetings. All of us miss him so much. Hope to see you having a Leader's Club in Curtin University soon. Good Luck! =)
Ruby Tan: Helpful, responsible, reliable member. Helped us a lot in our '60 seconds to fame' project. Great vice secretary too.
Jeff Wong: He is serious about his job. Would try his best in doing anything and will not give up until the last minute. He is a positive minded or an optimistic guy.
Elvin: Dedicated, hardworking, responsible, funny and a bit talkative member. His first impression to me was not so good. But later on, I realized that I was wrong. Elvin is a great leader as well and I have no regrets with him being the I.T. Leader. I realise you are now quite daring to speak up, aren't you?
Tan Wei Hong: Helpful, responsible, hilarious member. He got most of the tickets sold during our past activity. Good in selling. =) Anyway, he is also a responsible leader as he will do his job as good as he can.
Darren Kwan: Helpful and hardworking member. He and Tan Wei Hong manage to get many people in our past '60 seconds to fame event'. He is someone with leadership qualities that I can never deny.

I hope all past committee members can keep in touch with each other although you are not in the club anymore.

Dear Leaders,

It is with great sadness that I write this final post, I can't believe it has all ended so fast but I am happy to say that we have left the club in very capable hands.

I am proud to announce that my good friend Chidartha has taken over my post as I.T. Leader. This will be my last post here and I am very confident in saying that I know he will carry his duties out very diligently.

We would like to personally thank all of you for coming today, like I said, LT2 may not have been jam packed, but just having that many of you guys their really put a smile on my face. That shows your commitment. You all truly show magnificient spirit, I hope you will all actively participate. Leader's Club only wants the best for you and to make sure a happy memory will always remain with you wherever you go. I know it will for me

I hope I wasn't to lousy today as emcee for the event. Like i said, I like being unformal in a way so that you guys won't fall asleep and hopefully I kept you entertained haha, I admit my humour is kinda cheesy.

With all this said and done, I bid you all a farewell and hope to see you all again. Thank you for giving me the chance to make friends with all of you.

I would like to personally thank Mr. Bala, Steven, Loga, Vee Keat, Wei Hong, Darren, Ruby and Jeff for giving me such a great team to be a part of.

Also our club's president Steven and I have been in discussion on whether we could integrate a video conferencing facility into our AGM and other future meetings from here on in so that if for some reason a member wouldn't be able to come he or she would still be able to attend through the comforts of home.

However this plan is only at it infant stages and it's not guaranteed that we will be able to execute this plan at the meeting however if anyone is volunteering to loan a webcam and if video conferencing is possible we will intiate it immediately but don't rely on it 100% as this has only been a recent implementation which hasn't undergone field testing yet so we won't know for sure. It has to reach a more stable stage till we can confirm it's reliability but we're confident it will be a new positive solution for our meetings.
But we will do our best to make it a permanent feature for all our meetings. Any of you Leaders having suggestions for this are more than welcome to put them forward

This however is not entitled as a viable option for our AGM. Attendance is compulsary and if only there is an urgent requirment that if a member needs to go home for a very important reason then only will it be allowed. Common guys history is being made here and anyways if you attend in person it'll be more fun, that's we want you to do, HAVE FUN, GO CRAZY but of course we gotta get some work done but feel good and have a good time doing it.

Anyways that's pretty much it for now. I'll keep you informed on any updates.

First and foremost, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all members that came and helped out on ECA Day. I appreciate the contributions all of you have given. It was great to see that everyone came and did their best during ECA day. I saw the leadership qualities in you that you have learned- Courage, Cooperation.
I also would like to thank all new students that have signed up. I also hope new coming members know well about our mission and vision.
Elvin, the IT leader and I had discussed the matter of using a webcam during our meeting. However, we will still have to discuss further details about this but hopefully we will be able to implement it soon.
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is coming soon. It's on the 22nd Feb 2008. I hope all current members are prepared for the coming AGM. All new members are also welcomed. The time and venue of the event will be informed to you by email. Please remember to check your email.

Dear Leaders

I would like to just say a heartfelt congratulations and a job well done from me and the committee. You guys we're fantastic today and we signed on an army and we're still recruting more...hehe.

I'd like to give a warm welcome to all the new members and of course undoubtedly the Leader's of the future. Like i mentioned, we want you to have fun helping organize activities as well as planning your own. We give everyone a chance to plan events and of course remember have fun and smile now because you're part of the enormous family of Leader's Club. =D
Remember, for those of you who still haven't signed up yet, it still isn't too late. All you got to do is just sign up at the ECA office and your onboard, that's it but please make sure to actively participate as much as possible, we understand you guys may have classes and what not but do your best to keep up to date and attend as many meetings as possible, we want you to be there. The more the better and your looking at a new club at what i know will be a huge success and one of the greatest club's in Taylor's history. But remember, we are always working towards greatness TOGETHER, together we will succeed and become the best, WE CAN MAKE THE DIFFERNCE and of course we want you to be able to have good laughs and memories to be able to last a lifetime.

Yoyoyo, Captain crispy is back for yet another blog post on this awesome site. Ok enough of the nonesense and down to business hehe.
We had a great meeting on Monday, i'd like to thank all of you who we're present but for those who we're absent please keep up to date on what's going on ok?
First, i would like to announce that we have 2 new club Advisors, Mr. Lai & Ms. Jackie. Unfortunately, Ms. Jackie wasn't their for the meeting but I'm sure we can get her up to speed real quick.
Secondly, we are making preparations for ECA day to set up our booth, please be sure to find out more and see where you can help.
Thirdly, we proposed a date for the AGM to be on the 22nd of February however venue is still unconfirmed. We'll be sure to let you guys know soon about it.
Finally, Mr. Lai proposed a fantastic idea in helping new students by guiding them and familiarizing them with the utilisation of the various facilities on the Taylor's University College campus.

Hey Leaders!

How are you? If I'm not wrong, all of you were very tired because of the event right? I would like to thank each and everyone of you who came and helped us make the event a success. Each of you contributed a significant part of the event. I'm proud of all of you. While you were all working I noticed that ever burning team spirit in all of you. That alone really makes me proud.
No matter what happened, we did our best and now we have to go on further.
I believe all of us have learned something from this event. I hope this experince will lead all of you further to making even bigger, better and more popular events in future that surpasses all other events.

I would like to thank all of you Leaders who attended the meeting the other day. As you may know by now due to unfortunate circumstances, Cineleisure Damansara will no longer be a part of our "60 seconds to fame" Mega Project. The show will now be held instead at the Multi Purpose Hall in Taylor's University College.

I would also like to thank you all for bringing up all those great ideas you had in mind which we probably wouldn't have been able to think off if YOU were not there. A couple of you had friends in other colleges which will significantly help us get the word across the network and the idea of put the flyer along with the registration forms like a double sided piece and much more. As we have said before Leader's Club needs YOU.
